Comic Strip

For this assignment, we were to draw over photographs to create a comic-styled picture. I chose to take pictures inside the free movie making studio, Source Filmmaker, rather than in real life. I picked two of the default characters, and posed their bodies and faces in ways that I thought would reflect personalities and appropriate reactions. I also chose the locations for them to be in. After taking five pictures, I arranged them in the form of a comic. I used the paint brush tool to trace all of the distinct features of the characters. I also traced the backgrounds with the paint brush tool. Then I used the paint bucket tool to fill in colors for both the characters and backgrounds. While doing so, I noticed how the paint bucket tool did not completely fill in the traced areas. So I created another layer to fill in the thin lines that appeared on both side of every black line. So I essentially traced every line three times. I used the custom shape tool and paint brush tool to create the speech bubbles. Overall, I'm happy with the way the comic turned out, even though it needs to be just at the right size to have no pixelation.

The original five pictures I set up and took are here:
